The generic name is the official, non-proprietary name given to a medication. The name is the same no matter who manufactures it. The generic medications are then marketed under specific brand names. So why pay more for a brand name when you can get the same quality for less? Generic brands of acetaminophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen are made with the same high quality standards as name brands.
